The ETF's known as Select Sector SPDRs divide the S&P 500 stocks into nine industry sectors. Using these funds the investor and trader can target a particular industry or group of industries which they believe holds potential. Because of the dynamics of the market there are usually strong sectors and weak sectors at any point in time. This is obvious by reviewing these performance numbers.
