As of October 25, 2017, the "pass" criteria was changed from requiring
that the three conditions
be met to requiring any 2 of the 3 conditions be met.
On July 13, 2018, 15 ETFs were removed and 7 were added.
On Feb 26, 2021, 13 ETFs were removed and replaced.
All ETFs are ranked from 1 to 44 based on their 6 month price performance labeled "Rtn-6mo" shown on the right side of the page. Please make sure to use
end of day prices not intra-day prices.
Buying
Note that there are three other criteria that must be met to make a purchase as indicated in 1. Initial Tests on the page. These are:
- Price of ETF is above its 100-day simple moving average (P/SMA-100). This is represented by a number greater than zero.
- The one month Relative Strength (Rtn-1mo) must be positive.
- The MACD oscillator must be at a reading of "0" or higher.
If any two of the three conditions are met, the word Pass will appear in the Result column. If not the word Fail will appear. Select the first five ETFs for purchase with a Pass condition.
If, and only if, the Dashboard is signaling BUY (see: Buy Don't Hold website FAQs)
- Consider the top five ETFs marked "Pass" in the Results column. Pass means an ETF passes all three BDH Initial Tests.
- Confirm that each ETF you consider meets BDH Buy criteria by clicking on "Chart" and confirming it clearly meets these BDH criteria:
- Price is above its 100-dma (Blue line)
- Price is rising
- MACD Indicator (Black) is above its Signal (Red)
- Buy the top 5 Confirmed Pass ETFs.
Selling
Sell any ETF if its Rank falls to 21 or lower, then follow the steps
above to replace it. Remember to always use stop limit orders after you
purchase ETFs to protect principal. If a stop is triggered before a
Dashboard "sell" signal, then it should be taken, and those proceeds
reinvested if a "buy" signal is still in place.
